Question: What Texas city is home to a 24-foot fire hydrant that was the world’s largest when it was built in 1999?

Answer: Beaumont. The Dalmatian-spotted fire hydrant stands at the entrance to the Fire Museum of Texas and was donated by Disney in 1999 to celebrate the re-release of 101 Dalmatians. Constructed of fiberglass and reinforced with 1,000 feet of steel, it weighs 4,500 pounds and is capable of blasting 1,500 gallons of water per minute. In 2001, the fire hydrant lost its title as the world’s largest to a 40-foot-tall hydrant in Columbia, South Carolina.
