Question: Which Texas city’s residents once organized a tug-of-war between those on either side of a local body of water?

Answer: Austin. Up to 1,500 people participated in the April 1987 contest between the “Bubbas of South Austin and the yupsters from North of the River.” The Tug-of-Honor, as it was called, occurred on either side of Lady Bird Lake just upstream from Longhorn Dam. South Austin won the contest 2-1.
