Article Icon 1Court Unseals Paxton’s Divorce Records

A Texas judge ordered Attorney General Ken Paxton’s divorce records to be unsealed Friday after Paxton and ex-wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, agreed to the legal challenge from a watchdog group and a coalition of media outlets.

Paxton is in the middle of a heated Republican primary race to unseat U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, with Cornyn’s campaign focusing on Paxton’s character and history of controversies.

Angela Paxton filed for divorce in July, citing “biblical grounds” as well as “recent discoveries” on top of an extramarital affair exposed during Paxton’s 2023 impeachment proceedings.

The Paxtons requested their divorce records be sealed shortly after filing, and Ken Paxton challenged the September motion from media outlets to unseal them as “intrusive,” before agreeing Thursday to accede to the demand.

A five-person homicide case that rocked East Texas in 1983 has finally been closed after a third suspect was identified in what are known as the “KFC murders.”

DNA evidence from a victim’s clothing confirmed Devan Riggs as the final suspect in the murders after the Texas Rangers reopened the case in 2023.

Riggs, together with Romeo Pinkerton and Darnell Hartsfield, who were convicted in 2007 and 2008, abducted their five victims from a KFC restaurant in Kilgore in September 1983 and murdered them “execution-style” on a remote site in Rusk County.

Riggs has been dead for over a decade, meaning no further arrests will be made, and the case is officially closed.

Texas A&M takes to the field at home today to face the Miami Hurricanes in the first College Football Playoff game ever played in College Station.

The Aggies enter as slight favorites in the do-or-die matchup, with the winner advancing in the playoff brackets to play No. 2 Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Texas A&M, ranked No. 7, is coming off its best regular season in over a decade: They’re 11-1, including 7-0 at Kyle Field, and are averaging over 36 points per game. Their defensive front has logged 41 sacks so far this season, the most of any team in the country.

All eyes will be on superstar running back Le’Veon Moss, who could play today after missing six straight games with an ankle injury. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. on ABC/ESPN
