Aaron Tapp, the head of the FBI’s San Antonio field office, was fired Friday for reasons yet to be disclosed by the agency.

According to reports, the firing allegedly stemmed from Tapp’s role in the investigation of Republican leaders seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

GOP lawmakers recently released records from the investigation, dubbed “Arctic Frost,” which was terminated after President Trump won reelection in 2024.

Tapp is a 22-year veteran of the FBI and took charge of the San Antonio field office in 2024.

The No. 20 Texas Longhorns hosts the No, 9 Vanderbilt Commodores today at 11:00 in a top-20 matchup with college football playoff implications.

After sustaining an injury in last week’s win over Mississippi State, Texas quarterback Arch Manning is said to be improving within concussion protocol, but his status for today’s game remains uncertain.

Backup QB Matthew Caldwell, who threw the game-winning touchdown a week ago, will make his first start as a Longhorn if Manning can’t play.

Both teams enter the game with one loss in SEC play and likely need to secure a win for a chance to play in the conference championship next month.

Texas-based SpaceX is defending its moon program in response to recent criticism from the NASA community, announcing its intention to develop a “simplified” lunar landing mission architecture.

SpaceX officials said the simpler approach should speed up the return to the moon, answering NASA’s call to provide “acceleration approaches” to Artemis 3, the lunar mission currently contracted to SpaceX.

Meanwhile, SpaceX is expecting to receive $2 billion in government funding to develop satellites for President Trump’s Golden Dome project, highlighting the company’s expanding role in U.S. defense.

SpaceX is also reportedly expected to be a major player in two other contracts with the Pentagon involving satellites, one for relaying sensitive military communications and another for tracking vehicles on the ground.
