Article Icon 1Statewide Protests Erupt

Multiple cities across Texas were flooded with protesters as part of the nationwide “No Kings Day” protests aimed at President Trump.

At least 15 protests were held across North Texas as organizers urged peaceful, lawful demonstrations against the Trump administration’s immigration policy and what they called growing authoritarianism.

Authorities evacuated the Texas Capitol and surrounding grounds after identifying a credible threat targeting state lawmakers scheduled to attend, prompting a temporary closure for public safety.

Gov. Greg Abbott deployed over 5,000 National Guard troops and 2,000 state police ahead of the protests, though officials withheld the specific deployment locations.

Cindy Clemishire alleges Morris sexually abused her in 1982 while he stayed at her family’s home, according to the lawsuit. Morris previously acknowledged inappropriate conduct with a minor during that time.

Clemishire is seeking $1M in damages. You can read the full lawsuit here.
