After years of anticipation and teasing from Tesla and Elon Musk, the electric car company is set to debut its fully autonomous robotaxi service today in Austin.

The debut will include a small number of those who were invited to participate, use Tesla Model Ys, and will include a safety monitor, a human onboard to ensure nothing goes wrong.

Tesla is currently developing a vehicle solely for the robotaxi service, but there is no set date for the general public to use the service. Volume production of the robotaxi is set to begin in 2026. You can see photos here.

Article Icon 1Abbott Signs Ban on Cell Phones in Schools

A bill that will ban the use of cell phones by K-12 students in school was signed into law by Gov. Abbott on Saturday.

House Bill 1481 requires schools to prohibit students from using their phones during the school day by either requiring them to leave them at home or store them in a “secure storage” space.

The bill also restricts the use of devices like smart watches that are capable of “digital communication.”

The bill’s passage brings Texas into alignment with eight other states that have banned cell phones in schools. The law will take effect in the 2026-2027 school year, and you can read the full text here.
