Man Boards School Bus to Kidnap Ex-Girlfriend
A 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly boarded a Spring ISD school bus with a gun and tried to kidnap his ex-girlfriend on Monday. According to court documents, the student boarded the bus while being followed by her ex-boyfriend, David Madison, in an SUV.
Madison forced the bus to stop, pointed a rifle at the driver, and boarded the bus, grabbing the student by the arm before eventually letting her go and telling her, “I’ll get you later.”
Twenty-four other students were on the bus at the time of the incident. Madison was captured by the U.S. Marshals after fleeing the scene, and he is being held on bonds totaling $6.9 million.
“I knew I was gonna die,” said the student. “I knew he was going to try to do something.”
Texas A&M’s Aiden Ross Wins The Voice
Texas A&M sophomore Aiden Ross won season 28 of NBC’s The Voice on Tuesday, singing renditions of JVKE’s “golden hour” and ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All.”
The 20-year-old student grew up on his family’s strawberry farm near College Station and is studying industrial engineering. During the season premiere in September, Ross got a “chair turn” from all four judges when he performed Adele’s “Love in the Dark.”
Ross chose former One Direction singer Niall Horan as his coach, saying he “writes and makes music that is most similar to the type of artist that I aspire to be.” He said he plans to finish his degree but is open-minded about his future career path.
“If something in music pops up that is a viable opportunity, I will jump at it,” said Ross. “If there’s a spark, I’m gonna fan that flame.”
Stranded Dolphin Rescued
A young bottlenose dolphin trapped by a sandbar in shallow waters near Aransas Bay was rescued by a team of volunteers on Saturday.
The dolphin was stranded in a 20-acre body of water no more than four feet deep for more than a week. After examining tide forecasts, experts determined the dolphin would not be able to return to Aransas Bay on its own.
“Time was of the essence to ensure the animal’s health and survival,” said Heidi Whitehead of the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN).
Volunteers from TMMSN, NOAA Fisheries, SeaWorld of Texas, and the Amos Rehabilitation Keep corralled the dolphin, conducted a thorough veterinary examination, and relocated it using a specialized floating platform.
“This successful rescue shows what’s possible when organizations and communities come together for marine wildlife,” Whitehead said.
