The Flyover: From a Kitchen Table Idea to a National Movement

Two years ago, our founder, Guy Short, sat at his kitchen table, frustrated by the intentional bias dominating the news. That day, he came up with a bold idea:

Common-sense news for common-sense Americans.

What started with 47 readers now reaches over 3 million Americans every day.

Today, The Flyover publishes nine state editions, 61 newsletters weekly, and The Flyover Podcast, streaming seven days a week—and unlike most start-ups, we’re already profitable.

Readers Turned Owners

Since August, more than 1,450 readers have invested nearly $2.5 million to support our growth. Their support has powered:

  • Over 3 million total Flyover readers

  • Texas Flyover nearing 500,000 readers

Article Icon 1Democratic Lawmaker Joins Governor’s Race

State Rep. Gina Hinojosa announced yesterday she is running for governor, promising to “put Texas families first, fight for our kids, and hold the powerful accountable.” The five-term Democrat from Austin has been an outspoken opponent of the school choice program.

Hinojosa was born and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and attended UT Austin, working as a union attorney before being elected to the Austin ISD school board in 2012. Elected to the Texas House in 2016, she claimed credit for organizing the Democratic quorum break in 2021 in response to election reform legislation.

I never wanted to be a politician—I was just an angry mom,” said Hinojosa. “But I’ve seen firsthand how Governor Abbott’s rich donors run Texas at the expense of our schools, our communities, and working families.”

A spokesman for Abbott, whose campaign account had more than $87 million in June, said Hinojosa is “out of step with Texans.” Houston businessman Andrew White, Hinojosa’s most prominent competitor, said she’s a “progressive” who would struggle to assemble a coalition that can defeat Abbott.

A consortium of major tech companies—including Microsoft, Nvidia, and Elon Musk’s xAI—is buying Plano-based Aligned Data Centers for a record $40 billion in a deal that highlights the booming AI business and increased collaboration among service providers, chip manufacturers, and infrastructure developers.

Founded in 2013, Aligned is owned in part by Macquarie Asset Management and operates 50 data center campuses in North and South America with a total capacity of 5 gigawatts. In January, the company raised $12 billion in capital.

Other investors participating in the deal include BlackRock, Abu Dhabi’s MGX, and the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership, whose members include the aforementioned tech companies. Aligned CEO Andrew Schaap will continue to lead the firm.

With a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts, the Metroplex is the second-largest data center market, trailing only Northern Virginia. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said the deal would “accelerate AI innovation and drive global economic growth and productivity.”

Article Icon 1Jailer Fired for Chicken Wings

A former Travis County jailer has been charged with smuggling contraband to an inmate. It wasn’t weapons, drugs, or a cell phone, though—it was chicken wings.

Amos Nyanway, 25, began working for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office last year. On Tuesday, he was fired and charged with a Class B misdemeanor for allegedly providing chicken wings to an inmate in August.

I’m disappointed that a Travis County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officer made such a foolish decision. We hold our employees to a high standard of conduct and accountability,” said Sheriff Sally Hernandez.

Nyanway’s charge carries a potential jail sentence of up to 180 days and a fine of up to $2,000.

Move Over Exxon, This Energy Upstart Is Ready for Primetime

Energy giants like Exxon and Chevron have been buying up land in America’s lithium hotspot.

Now they’ve got a new neighbor.

EnergyX just acquired the rights to 35,000 gross acres of high-grade lithium resources in the Smackover Formation, right next to Exxon and Chevron’s lithium projects, bringing their total to nearly 50,000 acres.

What’s really turning heads about this move is that EnergyX isn’t just competing for lithium-rich land. They’ve pioneered patented technology that can extract 300% more lithium than traditional methods. That combination positions EnergyX as one of the largest vertically integrated lithium producers in America. Additionally, General Motors has invested, along with other global leaders such as Eni and POSCO.

Great timing, too, because the demand for lithium is projected to be 18X current production by 2040.

You can claim a stake in the lithium boom, too. But act fast.

Invest in EnergyX for just $10/share through Oct. 30.

Meet America’s Newest $1B Unicorn

This U.S. startup just surpassed a $1 billion valuation, joining billion-dollar private companies like SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

Unlike those other unicorns, you can invest. Over 35,000 people already have. Similarly, industry giants such as General Motors, Eni, and POSCO have also done so.

Why all the interest? EnergyX’s patented tech can recover 300% more lithium than traditional methods. That’s a big deal as demand for lithium is projected to outstrip supply by 2030.

Now, they’re moving toward commercial production, developing 100,000+ acres of lithium deposits in Chile, a potential $1.1B in annual revenue opportunity at projected market prices.

Currently, you can invest at this pivotal stage for just $10/share, before the price increases on October 30th. Invest in EnergyX here.
