Question: What Dallas-born blues musician is known for his No. 1 hit “Crossfire” and considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time?

Answer: Stevie Ray Vaughan. Born in 1954 in Dallas, he dropped out of high school and moved to Austin in 1972, where he formed the band Double Trouble. His critically acclaimed debut album Texas Flood played a key role in revitalizing blues music in the 1980s. Double Trouble would release four albums, the last of which, In Step, included his No. 1 hit “Crossfire.” Tragically, Vaughan died in a helicopter crash in 1990 after a performance in East Troy, Wisconsin. Rolling Stone has twice ranked Vaughan among the top 20 guitarists of all time.
