Question: Who was the only Confederate general born in Texas?
Answer: Felix Huston Robertson. Born in 1839 at Washington-on-the-Brazos, he attended Baylor University and West Point, but he resigned his commission to serve the Confederacy. He participated in the shelling of Fort Sumter and later served under Gen. Braxton Bragg and Gen. Joseph Wheeler. His military career came to an end when he was severely wounded in November 1864.
After the war, Robertson resided in Waco, where he practiced law and invested in railroads and real estate. In 1928, he became the last Confederate general to die.
