Question: What were the names of the doctors who founded Scott and White Memorial Hospital?

Answer: Arthur C. Scott of Gainesville, Texas, and Raleigh R. White of Cameron. They established the Temple Sanitarium in a converted house in 1904, moving to a former Catholic convent shortly thereafter. White died in 1917, and Scott remained at the hospital—which was renamed Scott and White Hospital in 1922—until his death in 1940. The hospital had grown to become one of the five largest private medical practices in the country before it was converted into a nonprofit organization in 1949.
