Question: How many Texans served in World War I?

Answer: Through the draft and voluntary enlistments, a total of 184,493 Texans saw service in the armed forces during the course of the war. At least 5,170 Texans died in the armed services, up to a third of which lost their lives to the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. Four Texans were awarded the Medal of Honor.
