Question: Where in Texas can you find a fully stocked Prada store that’s never open for business?

Answer: On U.S. Route 90 about a mile northwest of Valentine in Jeff Davis County. Prada Marfa is an art installation resembling a Prada store created by artists Elmgreen and Dragset in 2005. Built with biodegradable adobe, the structure is intended to be a critique of Western materialism. Interestingly, Miuccia Prada herself selected the merchandise for the store and allowed the artists to use the Prada logo. The installation has been vandalized multiple times, prompting Elmgreen and Dragset to replace the products in the store with non-functional ones like handbags without bottoms and right-footed shoes. Despite its remote location, Prada Marfa attracts thousands of visitors each year.
