Question: Where in Texas is more than half of the nation’s new currency printed?
Answer: At the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth. Built in 1990, it’s the first and only government-operated printing facility outside of Washington D.C. It’s staffed by around 450 employees and prints over $250 million in paper currency a day. Notes printed at the facility are marked with the letters “FW” in the lower right corner on the face of the bill. Free self-guided tours are available Tuesday through Friday.
