Question: What Texas high school football team plays their home games at the site of a former graveyard?
Answer: San Saba High School. In 1858, the Rogan family, who owned the land, donated it for a cemetery. Then in 1935, a headline in the San Saba News announced the land had been turned over to the school for an athletic field. It wasn’t long before rumors started with claims some bodies had not been removed and still remain under the gridiron, rumors that the school has fun with. A sign that hangs at the main entrance to the field welcomes opponents to “The Graveyard.”
