Question: What Texas revolutionary later fought under Santa Anna during the Mexican-American War?

Answer: Juan Seguín. Born in San Antonio in 1806, he served as a captain in the Texan army and participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. Following the revolution, he served in the Texas Senate before he became the mayor of San Antonio.

Seguín was suspected of having conspired with General Ráfael Vásquez to allow him to invade San Antonio in 1842, causing Seguín to fear for his life and flee to Mexico, where he was allegedly conscripted into military service. He participated in another short-lived invasion of San Antonio later that year and in the Mexican-American War following the annexation of Texas in 1845.
