From the Founder’s Desk: Why I Want The Flyover Readers to Own The Flyover
When I decided to accept investors in The Flyover, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in The Flyover would be a Flyover reader. That’s why we’ve structured this offering with you in mind:
5% bonus shares for all Flyover readers who invest
Anadditional 5% bonus for those investing in our current round from $1M to $2M
Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—are focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we’re less than $130,000 away from hitting $2 million raised. Once we cross that mark, the extra 5% bonus goes away.
But some of our readers are asking: “How do I get a return on my investment?”
Here’s why The Flyover is different:
Already profitable after just two years (most start-ups never are)
80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)
In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)
How investors could realize returns:
A Sale – Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or theNew York Times need not apply.)
Public Listing – Shares traded openly on an exchange.
Profit Distributions (Dividends) – Because we’re already profitable, this is possible.
Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.
My Closing Pitch
More than 1,225 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We’re just $130K away from our next milestone—and once we hit it, the chance at 10% bonus shares drops to 5%. If you’ve been considering investing, now is the moment. Let’s finish this round together and make The Flyover a news company truly owned by its readers.
Will you be one of the investors who help us keep The Flyover reader-owned?
Several Texans in public-facing positions are taking heat for inflammatory remarks made following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday. At least one person has been fired.
Goose Creek ISD teacher Jennifer Courtemanche wrote on Facebook, “Could this have been the consequences of his actions catching up with him?” A Pasadena ISD employee also made “inappropriate and insensitive comments.” Both districts denounced the remarks and promised to review each employee’s conduct.
A Baylor University graduate student interning with Midway ISD was relieved of his position after saying Kirk’s assassination “makes me giggle.” Fort Worth City Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck shared and quickly deleted a post in which she derided the Turning Point USA founder’s defense of gun rights.
Meanwhile, a Texas State University professor was fired Wednesday for his remarks to the online Revolutionary Socialism Conference: “Without organization, how can anyone expect to overthrow the most bloodthirsty, profit-driven, mad organization in the history of the world—that of the United States?“
Illegal Immigrant Kills Motel Worker
Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a 37-year-old illegal immigrant from Cuba, has been charged with capital murder for allegedly beheading a motel manager in Dallas on Wednesday.
According to an affidavit, Cobos-Martinez and a coworker were cleaning rooms around 9:30 a.m. when the victim, 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, informed him that a washing machine was broken.
Nagamallaiah spoke to the witness to translate, which angered Cobos-Martinez, who stepped out of the room and returned moments later with a machete and killed him.
Cobos-Martinez was previously in federal custody but was released on Jan. 13 because there were “no removal flights to Cuba,” according to ICE.
Irving Hosts Red Bull Flugtag
More than 30,000 spectators are expected to visit Lake Carolyn in Irving’s Las Colinas district tomorrow for Red Bull Flugtag, an annual competition featuring homemade, human-powered flying machines. The Metroplex last hosted the event in 2013.
Participants in the event, whose name originated from the German term for “flight day,” will launch their aircraft from a 22-foot-high ramp. The winner will be determined by three criteria: flight distance, creativity, and showmanship.
More than 30 five-person teams are expected to compete in the event, including Barbie’s Revenge, 100 Men vs Gorilla, and TACO a.k.a. Texas Aeronautics & Crash Organization. Judges include pro volleyball player Madisen Skinner and local TikTok creator Romeo Centeno.
The free event will begin with a skydiving demonstration by the Red Bull Air Force. “It’s our opportunity to bring a smile to their face—or at least a laugh,” said David May of the Margarita Voladora team.
Say goodbye to stale, sweaty sheets. These silver-infused Miracle Made bedsheets stay cooler, fresher, and prevent up to 99.7% of bacteria growth—like a fresh hotel bed every night.
