Question: What is the oldest public junior college in Texas?

Answer: San Antonio College. It opened in 1925 as University Junior College with an enrollment of 200, and classes were held in the evening at the old Main High School. Its name was changed to San Antonio Junior College the following year, and it assumed its current name in 1948, after voters approved the establishment of the San Antonio Union Junior College District. Today, it is one of five schools in the Alamo Colleges District, which has an enrollment of more than 100,000 students.
