Question: What Texan was a staff member for Reagan’s National Security Council and hosted a long-running program on Fox News?
Answer: Oliver North
Born in San Antonio in 1943, he served as a platoon commander during the Vietnam War. In 1981, he went to work for the National Security Council.
North gained notoriety for his role in the Iran-Contra affair but was eventually cleared of all charges on the grounds of immunity. After leaving government service, North ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate, hosted a talk show on Radio America, and hosted War Stories with Oliver North on Fox News from 2001 to 2016.
