Texas Posts What State Workers Earn
Texans can now look up what state employees earn in an updated salary database reflecting pay as of Oct. 1, searchable by name or agency.
It covers 154,795 workers across 116 agencies, with a $61,695 median and an $850,005 top salary.
A year earlier, the state had 153,475 employees across 115 agencies, a $60,513 median, and an $800,005 top salary. Lawmakers funded raises for certain state positions in fiscal 2026.
State auditors say raises approved in 2023 may have helped push classified employee turnover to 15.4% in fiscal 2025, a 15-year low. The database, built from comptroller records, updates quarterly.

Screwworm Cases Jump near El Paso
New World screwworm cases have jumped “tenfold” over the past month, according to Texas Agriculture Commissioner, who said the newest cases are turning up in pets.
Four of the USDA’s five most recently confirmed cases were dogs, including one in Socorro in El Paso County. A sheep at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces also tested positive.
Officials said heavy rain is adding to the spread and urged pet owners to check for open wounds. Texas has placed parts of El Paso County under livestock movement limits, and suspected cases can be reported at 800-550-8242.

AT&T Stadium Tops Haunted Venue List
AT&T Stadium in Arlington is North America’s most haunted sports venue, according to a new ranking from The Sports Geek, which scored 47 pro venues across the U.S. and Canada.
The Cowboys’ home scored 62 out of 100, edging Dodger Stadium at 60 and earning the only perfect score for published ghost stories.
Cited accounts include staff reporting dishes rising and crashing in a kitchen, plus a cold spot near a room honoring coach Tom Landry. The stadium also sits near Keystone Cemetery, about a third of a mile away. The scores reflect documented stories, not verified paranormal activity.
