Netflix’s docuseries “America’s Sweethearts” has sparked a social media outcry by revealing that Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders earn just $12 per hour despite harsh working conditions and grueling schedules.

Fans have begun reenacting routines on social media and even starting petitions demanding better pay and treatment for the performers.

Cowboys executive Charlotte Jones acknowledged that cheerleaders are “not paid a lot” but claimed women join the team to be part of something bigger than themselves.
