Article Icon 1Texas Builds Team To Enforce Privacy

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says he’s established the largest team in the country to focus on “aggressive” enforcement of privacy laws and to protect personal information from artificial intelligence platforms.

The initiative aims to address concerns about the extensive collection, aggregation, and use of sensitive data by technology and AI companies by ensuring they abide by the state’s various privacy statutes.

“Any entity abusing or exploiting Texans’ sensitive data will be met with the full force of the law,” said Attorney General Paxton.

Article Icon 1 Texas Cattle Numbers Lowest Since 1961

There are fewer cattle in Texas than at any point since 1961, according to an analysis by an Amarillo industry association using data released by the USDA earlier this year.

Matt Garner, executive director of The Range, said ongoing drought conditions and rising costs have contributed to the decline.

The USDA data was compiled before this year’s devastating Panhandle wildfires, which killed more than 7,000 cattle. Still, it showed that the state’s beef cow population fell 4% between 2023 and 2024.

Article Icon 1Big Events In College Station

Over the next two weekends, hundreds of thousands will descend on College Station for two blockbuster events: Saturday’s international soccer match between Mexico and Brazil, and a George Strait concert the following Saturday.

Both events are expected to fill the seats at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field and generate around $47 million in spending on hotels, restaurants, and other businesses in the area.

Additionally, the Aggies baseball team is hosting the University of Oregon in a best-of-three postseason super regional tournament this weekend, the winner of which will advance to the College World Series next weekend in Omaha.
