Good morning! On this day in 1959, the Acres Homes Transit Company was granted a charter by the State of Texas, becoming the first bus franchise in the South owned and operated by African Americans. It served the Acres Homes community northwest of Houston, which was beyond the city limits until the late 1960s.
Five cities in North Texas are being considered as potential sites for an aerial gondola transportation system. Check out the story below!

Chip Roy Calls For Biden Ouster
Texas Congressman Chip Roy (R-Austin) is calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to use the Constitution’s 25th Amendment to remove Joe Biden as president after his disastrous debate performance last week against former President Donald Trump.
Roy introduced a non-binding resolution in the U.S. House on Friday, seeking to apply political pressure on Harris and Biden’s cabinet, a majority of which would need to agree that the president is unable to fulfill his duties to remove him from office.
“I think anybody with eyes and anybody observing objectively last night saw an individual that is not capable of carrying out the duties of commander-in-chief in a world in which we’re, you know, facing increasing dangers,” Roy told reporters.
Saharan Dust Cloud Coming To Texas
A huge cloud of Saharan dust is coming to parts of Texas today, and another is close behind. This annual summer phenomenon reduces air quality and humidity but can produce spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
During the summer months, hot air lifts sand from Africa’s Sahara Desert high into the atmosphere, where strong winds carry it across the Atlantic Ocean. According to NASA, about 182 million tons of dust from Africa are swept away every year.
This week’s Saharan Air Layer is the first of the year. It typically subsides after the middle of August.
Texas Workers At Medium Risk Of AI Automation
A new study from digital marketing firm (un)Common Logic shows 8.9% of Texas workers are at risk of being displaced by automation powered by artificial intelligence. The figure puts Texas at No. 22 in a list of states from most to least at-risk.
However, among large metro areas, three in Texas—Austin (#6, 10.3%), San Antonio (#22, 9.3%), and DFW (#23, 9.3%)—rank in the top 25 of those most at risk of job displacement from AI-related automation.
According to the study, budget analysts, loan officers, accountants, insurance sales agents, and paralegals are among the professions most susceptible to displacement by AI. These roles account for about 9% of all workers in the U.S.
