Article Icon 1Roberson Execution to Proceed

The Texas Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the state could proceed with the execution of Robert Roberson.

Originally scheduled for October 17, the state’s highest court stayed Roberson’s execution hours before it was to be carried out, prompted by the Texas House of Representatives issuing a subpoena for Roberson to testify before them.

Friday’s ruling said that Roberson could still testify before the Texas House, as Roberson’s legal team continues to buy time for his sentence to be overturned.

With his execution yet to be scheduled, Roberson would be the first person to undergo capital punishment for a shaken baby syndrome murder, a conviction that has come under scrutiny based on new scientific research.

Article Icon 1Two Corrections in Texas Michelin Guide

Michelin has now removed two restaurants from its inaugural Texas Guide.

The first removal was due to the Guide confusing The Charles, its original listing, with Mister Charles, as both restaurants are in the Dallas area and owned by the same parent company.

Kâu Ba, a Viet-Cajun restaurant in Houston, was also removed, having permanently closed before the Guide was released.

Meanwhile, Texas restaurants still on the list are making way for an uptick in patrons garnered from the publicity, one of which is Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez, which was opened as a food truck in 2020 by a former roofer who had been laid off.

Article Icon 1Paul Defeats Tyson in AT&T Stadium

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul squared off over eight rounds last night in AT&T Stadium, with Paul winning by unanimous decision over the boxing legend 31 years his senior.

The highly-anticipated event was shown on Netflix, and the streaming entertainment company’s foray into live sports didn’t exactly go well; problems with the feed created a stir on social media.

The weigh-in Thursday night lived up to media hype when Tyson slapped Paul during the final stare-down. You can watch the moment here.

Celebrities in attendance at the fight included boxing greats Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Lennox Lewis.
