Article Icon 1Heavy Rains Bring Flooding

Heavy rains over the past few days have caused severe flooding in parts of the state.

Midland received 3.63 inches of rain on Monday, the sixth-highest daily total. The downpour flooded roads and prompted 26 high-water rescue calls in Odessa and 41 in Midland.

A San Antonio man documented getting submerged by floodwater in his car before being rescued, while another video shows several homes in Coleman surrounded by water.

Llano ISD canceled classes Wednesday after receiving nearly seven inches of rain Tuesday, closing roads and forcing the Lower Colorado River Authority to open floodgates at Lake LBJ and Lake Marble Falls.

Dozens of people lined up for days in the rain for the Tuesday opening of Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant in Fort Worth.

The first 34 customers received free food for a year, and some have been camping out since Sunday to secure their spot.

The restaurant, part of a chain founded by O’Neal and his partners in 2018, features menu items inspired by the basketball star’s childhood favorites.

Shaq made an appearance at the opening, taking pictures with customers at the new North Texas location. See the menu here.

A Dallas handyman has gained viral attention for driving his Tesla Cybertruck around town with a working clothes dryer strapped to the truck bed.

Vladimir, who owns an appliance repair business, says he drove around for 40-50 minutes with the dryer running to get some new customers and showcase the Cybertruck’s unique capabilities.

The stunt, which Vladimir claims didn’t significantly drain the vehicle’s battery, drew smiles and waves from other motorists as well as a shoutout from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Watch the video here.
