Question: What Texas-born entrepreneur developed a correction fluid known as Liquid Paper?

Answer: Bette Nesmith Graham. In 1951, while working as the secretary for the chairman of the board of the Texas Bank and Trust, she began using white water-based tempera paint to correct typographical errors. Eventually, colleagues asked her for the paint, and she formed the Mistake Out Company in 1956. Two years later, she was fired from her secretarial job, and she renamed her product Liquid Paper.

By 1975, the company produced 25 million bottles of Liquid Paper a year. Graham sold the company to the Gillette Corporation for nearly $48 million in 1979. As of 2000, Liquid Paper is produced by Newell Brands.
