Question: What Texas town is home to the World’s Littlest Skyscraper?
Answer: Wichita Falls. The four-story building was constructed by Philadelphia developer J. D. McMahon at the height of the region’s oil boom in 1919. He was paid $200,000 to build office space for the oil companies that descended on the town.
When he discussed plans for the building with investors, however, he conveniently failed to disclose that the blueprint’s dimensions were in inches rather than feet. McMahon was nowhere to be found after the building was completed.
