Question: What Texas metro is home to a billboard with a 45-foot artificial waterfall?
Answer: Dallas. The iconic 150-foot-wide billboard was designed by local advertising firm Tracy-Locke and debuted in 1962 as an ad for San Antonio’s Pearl Beer. Since then, it has marketed Salem cigarettes and a host of other alcoholic beverages.
In 2008, the billboard underwent an extensive renovation and was designated an “extraordinarily significant sign” by the city of Dallas. On occasion, the water has been dyed to celebrate holidays or show support for local sports teams.
