Question: Which dam is the tallest in Texas?

Answer: Mansfield Dam. Completed in 1941, the 278-foot-high dam on the Colorado River forms Lake Travis. It is 7,089 feet long and 213 feet thick at the base. The Lower Colorado River Authority operates the dam, which can generate up to 108 megawatts of hydroelectric power. Mansfield Dam is named in honor of U.S. Rep. J.J. Mansfield, who represented Colorado County from 1917 to 1947.
