Question: Where is the largest live oak tree in Texas?

Answer: The San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge, about 50 miles south of Houston in Brazoria County. At over 60 feet tall and 10 feet wide, the massive tree supplanted a live oak in Rockport known as the “Big Tree” for the title of the state’s largest when it was discovered in 2003. Biologists believe it is old enough to have survived the hurricane of 1900.
