Answer: Slaton, a town of less than 6,000 about 17 miles southeast of Lubbock. The Slaton Bakery—whose vanilla wafers are sold in more than 500 stores throughout the state—organized the town’s first Banana Pudding Festival in 2023 to celebrate the company’s 100th year in business. This year’s festival over Labor Day Weekend was attended by an estimated 10,000 people.
Slaton was designated the official Banana Pudding Capital of Texas during this year’s regular session.
