Question: What is the oldest 18-hole public golf course in Texas?

Answer: Brackenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio. It opened in 1916 and was the site of the inaugural Texas Open in 1922. It is one of six municipal golf courses managed by the Alamo City Golf Trail.

In 1898, the Galveston Country Club became the first country club in Texas. Its 18-hole course is only accessible to members and buyers of select vacation packages. The following year, the 9-hole Hancock Golf Course was established in Austin as the original site of the Austin Country Club. Today, it is accessible to the public via a pay station.
