Article Icon 1Supreme Court Halts Deportations

The Supreme Court ruled early Saturday morning that, at least temporarily, alleged Venezuelan gang members held at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson could not be deported.

The ruling follows a previous order that allowed the Trump administration to deport migrants under the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th-century wartime law, so long as they were given due process

Saturday’s order came after the American Civil Liberties Union filed an emergency lawsuit, stating that the Trump administration wasn’t complying with the initial order.

The Supreme Court urged the federal government to file a response “as soon as possible.” Justices Alito and Thomas dissented from the majority. You can read the court order here.

The world’s first 3D-printed Starbucks is set to open in less than two weeks in Brownsville.

The 1,400-square-foot building began construction in December. It will not feature any seating, offering only walk-up and drive-thru service. COBOD International, a Denmark-based firm that seeks to automate at least 50% of construction projects, provided the 3D-printing technology.

The building’s shell is made of concrete, which was poured in layers by robotic arms and printed in just six days.

At least 17 people were injured in a chain-reaction crash involving 15 motorcycles in the southbound lanes of I-35W in Fort Worth Friday night.

The crash reportedly took place when the lead motorcycle’s front tire blew out, causing 14 other motorcycles to crash and resulting in multiple fires.

Officials called the crash a “mass casualty event,” with four people in critical condition, six in serious condition, and seven sustaining minor injuries.
