Texas Senate Passes Redistricting Bill
The Texas Senate passed House Bill 4 early Saturday morning, sending the bill that would create five new GOP-friendly congressional districts to Gov. Abbott’s desk for signing.
The measure passed the House along party lines 88-52 on Wednesday after weeks of controversy, including Democrats leaving the state.
The bill’s passage would cap off a months-long effort started by President Trump, who urged Gov. Abbott to call a special session on the subject.
Gov. Abbott vowed to sign the bill “swiftly” into law in a statement on Saturday. You can view the proposed map in HB 4 here.

Texas Woman Finds Ice Age Fossil at Thrift Store
A woman shopping at a Houston thrift store thought she was buying rocks for her art students, but later discovered one was actually a mammoth tooth.
Studio artist Wendy Wight bought 10 rocks, including one that looked a bit odd. After inspecting the rock, a friend ran a reverse image search, revealing it was a mammoth tooth estimated to be at least 25,000 years old.
A paleontologist confirmed the findings and suggested it was likely a Columbian mammoth due to its distinctive features, like its layered enamel plates and root structure.
Wight’s plans for the tooth are currently unclear, but for now, it’s on display in her studio. You can see a photo of the tooth here.
