State Leads Nation In Job Growth
A report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed Texas led the nation in job gains over the previous 12 months, adding 195,600 nonfarm payroll jobs.
Gov. Greg Abbott celebrated the gains while noting his appointment of a director for the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office. The office aims to help keep the job growth going by slashing regulations and increasing state agencies’ efficiency.
In August, Texas added 17,600 nonfarm jobs—the most of any state—and reported its labor force grew to 15.9 million.
Two Texas universities rank in the top 100 schools in the world for entrepreneurs, with the University of Texas at Austin in the top 10, according to a Pitchbook study.
The University of Texas at Austin ranks No. 8 and Texas A&M at No. 76 in the report that analyzed colleges for the amount of venture capital raised by their alumni.
In the past decade, the University of Texas has produced 850 graduates who have helped launch 774 venture capital-backed companies, raising a combined $24 billion from investors.

$140M Cotton Bowl Upgrades Await Fairgoers
After 18 months of construction and $140 million in upgrades, the newly renovated Cotton Bowl will take center stage when the State Fair of Texas opens on Friday at Fair Park in Dallas.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Saturday, with local leaders upbeat about the prospects of attracting more top-level events throughout the year.
The largest renovation in the venue’s 95 years included doubling the size of the main concourse, adding 14 escalators, expanding restrooms, and redesigning concession stands.
Stadium visitors can also expect improved Wi-Fi during their visits.

One day, Umu’s mother heard about Mercy Ships and the chance for her daughter to receive free surgery.
