Good Morning! On this day in 1836, former Mexican soldier Nepomuceno Navarro enlisted in Juan N. Seguín’s company of Tejanos, which served as Sam Houston’s rear guard at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was granted a pension and 320 acres of land for his service, and he was a member of the Texas Veterans Association until his death in 1877.

Report Shows Texas Man Killed by DHS
A U.S. citizen was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during a late-night traffic stop last March, according to a newly released report.
According to a report from nonprofit watchdog group American Oversight, Ruben Ray Martinez was shot by an ICE agent on South Padre Island after refusing to exit his vehicle and attempting to strike the agent with his vehicle.
The incident was covered by local news sources but wasn’t made public by the Department of Homeland Security.
Data from ICE show a 400% spike in use-of-force incidents, while the DHS has reported 23 separate instances where agents were attacked or injured during the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operation.
