Article Icon 1 Senator Cornyn Endorses Trump

Since May 2023, Texas Senator John Cornyn has urged Republicans to look beyond Trump for “a candidate who can actually win.”

However, after Trump’s victory in the New Hampshire Republican primary, Cornyn has officially endorsed Donald Trump:

I have seen enough… it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice.”

This endorsement comes as the former president’s GOP nomination seems all but inevitable and more Republican lawmakers back him after the recent victories.

Article Icon 1 Court Keeps Lawsuit Closed

The 5th U.S. Court of Appeals has refused to reopen a 2017 lawsuit involving the arrest of a Laredo journalist.

Priscilla Villarreal was arrested for trying to obtain non-public information from the Laredo police department. Although Villarreal won the original case, she still wants to sue city and county officials for damages.

In a 9-7 decision, the court ruled that the officials involved were protected by legal immunity. Villarreal and her attorney plan on taking the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Article Icon 1 More Texan Babies

A new report from the University of Houston showed the teen birth rate in Texas rising by 0.39%, marking the first increase in 15 years.

Since 2014, there hasn’t been a notable increase in overall birth rates—but in 2022, there was a two percent increase.

Texas introduced a 6-week abortion ban in 2021, and the number of babies born in the state increased by 16,147 the next year.

Birth rates for women between the ages of 20-24 are also likely to increase in the near future.
