Article Icon 1 Appeals Court Delays Texas Border Law

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that Texas’ SB4 law cannot be enforced until the panel determines its constitutionality.

Multiple courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, have ruled on whether the law allowing Texas to arrest illegal immigrants can take effect. The Fifth Circuit ruled 2-1 to continue the hold on the law for now.

The next hearing is scheduled for April 3, when the court will take up the question of whether the law unconstitutionally moves the state into immigration oversight reserved for the federal government.

Article Icon 1 Texas Launches Space Commission

Governor Greg Abbott announced the launch of a Texas Space Commission at NASA’s Johnson Space Center on Tuesday.

The new endeavor will be led by a nine-member board of directors, with the goal of making Texas a leading force behind future space exploration.

The commission’s main focus will be promoting the state’s Space Exploration and Aeronautics Research Fund, which awards grants to eligible entities that specialize in the commercial aerospace industry.
