Article Icon 1Age Verification Bill Hangs in The Balance

Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly personally stepped in to lobby Gov. Abbott against signing legislation that would require Apple to verify the ages of those who use its App Store.

Apple, Google, and other App Store operators would be responsible for implementing the requirement, according to Texas Senate Bill 2420.

The bill passed both chambers with a veto-proof majority, but the regular session is set to adjourn on June 2, giving Abbott the possibility to put a stop to the bill’s progression with a late veto.

Gov. Abbott has until May 27 to sign or veto the bill; if he takes no action, it becomes law. A veto would give the legislature until June 2 to override it with a two-thirds majority in both chambers.

The Texas Tech women’s softball team is headed to the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history after taking down Florida State in the semifinal round.

NiJaree Canady led the Red Raiders to victory, pitching two consecutive complete games in less than 24 hours and shutting out the Seminoles across 13 consecutive innings.

The Red Raiders’ offense did just enough in concert with Canady’s gems, winning the first contest 3-0, and the second 2-1.

The Women’s College World Series begins Thursday, where Texas Tech will face the victor of Ole Miss-Arkansas, which continues Saturday night. You can find a preview of the matchup here, with a bracket featuring the final contenders.

Article Icon 1Memorial Day Storms

Much of Texas will face a Memorial Day cold front, with forecasts calling for temperature drops up to 20 degrees and severe weather.

The slow-moving system will shift only slightly, with multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms spreading into Texas and the Southeast by Memorial Day. Widespread rainfall of 2–5 inches could trigger flash flooding from northeastern Texas to Tennessee.

Ping-pong ball-sized hail and wind gusts nearing 70 mph are also possible as the system moves through the region.

The Flyover

The Knicks-Pacers series has been wildly entertaining so far – and for the first time in history, trading on the outcome of the games is legal in Texas, thanks to Kalshi. This is possible because Kalshi is different from sportsbooks, operating like the stock market instead of using a traditional “house” model.

Rather than using complicated odds, Kalshi markets show a simple percentage. For example, the Knicks have about a 50% chance of winning the series, which means a $100 trade would pay out $200 if it happens.

Alongside simpler odds, there are other unique benefits to Kalshi, such as better pricing and the ability to cash out any time at fair market value.

Trade the NBA today and profit from your opinion!” And

“Not only does Kalshi offer the only legal way to trade on sports in Texas, but there are tons of other interesting markets to trade on.

Kalshi is a prediction market, which is a market on the outcome of a future event — and these events can be almost anything.

For example, you can trade on whether or not America will enter a recession in 2025 (currently a 42% chance), whether or not Trump will declassify the Epstein documents (currently 31%), who will win TIME’s Person of the Year, or which movies will get Oscar nominations.

Our most popular product by far though: elections. Right now, we have markets on which party will win in 2028, as well as who will be the nominee for both Republicans (current leader JD Vance) and Democrats (current leader Gavin Newsom).

Think you know something other people don’t on any of these topics? Trade on Kalshi today to profit from your opinion!
