Article Icon 1 Tesla Eyeing Move to Texas

Elon Musk wants to reincorporate Tesla in Texas, and he’s asked the company’s shareholders to vote on the matter. The potential move is motivated by a Delaware court’s ruling that Musk’s $56 billion compensation package is unfair to shareholders.

After the court’s ruling, Musk polled X users on whether he should proceed with the move. After 87% of the 1.1 million respondents voted yes, Musk immediately scheduled a shareholder vote to finalize the relocation.

Since 2021, Musk has been transferring portions of Tesla to the Lone Star State. Additionally, there are reports that he’s establishing a new town outside Austin where Tesla employees can reside and work.

Article Icon 1 Paxton Sues Five Cities

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed lawsuits against the cities of Austin, San Marcos, Killeen, Denton, and Elgin over ordinances that decriminalize low-level marijuana offenses.

The ordinances were passed after being approved by voters in local ballot propositions. Since the five cities are considered “home-rule” jurisdictions, they have “full power of self-government.”

Paxton argued these ordinances conflict with state law and cities lack the legal authority to adopt such policies:

I will not stand idly by as cities run by pro-crime extremists deliberately violate Texas law and promote the use of illicit drugs that harm our communities.”
