CenterPoint Energy executives apologized to customers during a Thursday meeting of the Public Utility Commission for their lackluster response to Hurricane Beryl earlier this month, promising to improve preparation, communication, and cooperation with local agencies.

The company said it’s investing in vegetation management, mobile generators, and replacing 1,000 wooden poles with composite ones. They also plan to roll out a new, neighborhood-level outage tracker.

The PUC will offer an online survey for CenterPoint customers and local governments to get feedback on the company’s performance during the hurricane.
