Article Icon 1 Patrick Acting Governor as Beryl Approaches

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has been sworn in as acting Governor of Texas as Governor Abbott promotes Texas business in Asia and the southern part of the state braces for Hurricane Beryl’s landfall.

In a news conference Friday, Patrick said “We’re preparing for the worst.” The hurricane hit Mexico as a Category 2 storm Friday morning before making its way to the Texas coast.

This is the third time in 2024 that Patrick has taken on the role of acting governor.
