The Roundup

Article Icon 1North Texas Tornadoes Deadliest Since 2015

The tornadoes that destroyed more than 200 homes and claimed seven lives across four North Texas counties were the deadliest in the state since 2015.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that ripped apart a Valley View gas station, where dozens had gathered to seek shelter, was rated an EF-2 with 135 mph winds. Farther east, in Celina, an EF-3 tornado with 165 mph winds knocked down houses and left 15,000 homes without power.

The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross have set up aid stations and shelters in the area for residents who have been displaced or need essential items.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed suit last week to block new federal guidance on “gender identity” accommodations in the workplace—the 75th lawsuit the state has brought against the Biden administration.

Other lawsuits address complaints concerning immigration policy, abortion, EPA mandates, restrictions on oil and gas, Medicaid funding, and dozens of other issues of dispute.

In the most recent lawsuit, Paxton is suing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to block rules that include prohibitions on preferred pronouns or bathroom use in the definition of “workplace harassment.”
