A few notable Texans spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo praised Kamala Harris for being responsive and accessible during a number of natural disasters in recent years, saying that “she’s leading the charge to protect our communities from extreme weather.”

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who spoke at a breakfast for the Texas delegation, expressed optimism in Harris’ ability to appeal to young voters, saying he’s hopeful she can “chip away at the red wall that we’ve experienced in Texas.”

And Dallas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is being hailed as a “superstar” and the “future of the DNC” after giving a primetime speech comparing the careers of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Hundreds of Waco High School students were barred from class on Monday due to dress code violations, sparking frustration among parents and students.

The crackdown targeted prohibited items including jackets with hoodies, ripped jeans, leggings, and shorts.

Waco ISD officials say parents were notified of the dress code in advance, but some claim they didn’t receive the email reminder until Sunday evening.

Students have started a petition against “unfair dress coding” that has garnered over 1,200 signatures.
